Tourists and locals gathered at ground zero in South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Wednesday to pay tributes to the 40 jawans of CRPF who were martyred this day in 2019 in a terrorist attack.

They showered flower petals at the spot on the Jammu-Srinagar highway where a suicide bomber hit his explosives-laden car into a convoy of CRPF killing 40 troops.

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha wrote on X: “Humble tributes to the bravehearts who sacrificed their lives in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. The nation will forever remain indebted to their exemplary courage, supreme sacrifice, and selfless service to the motherland”.

J&K Police also offered tributes to the martyred jawans. “On behalf of Jammu and Kashmir Police, DGP J&K RR Swain paid heartfelt homage to the courageous souls who made the ultimate sacrifice in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. “The sacrifices of CRPF personnel will forever be etched in our hearts. As we remember these heroes, let’s renew our commitment to securing peace”, the DGP said.

BJP activists also paid tributes to the CRPF jawans.

The Kashmir based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army saluted the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Pulwama attack.
“On Pulwama Day, we pay tribute to our fallen heroes. We remember, we will not forget! ” Chinar Corps wrote on X.

Floral tributes were also paid at several places in Jammu. Students of the University of Jammu assembled on the campus to pay homage to martyrs of CRPF.

It was five years ago that terrorists attacked a CRPF convoy of 78 vehicles that was carrying CRPF personnel to Srinagar from Jammu. Pakistan based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad led by Masood Azhar had claimed responsibility for the attack.
